Outlook strategy process

β• Involved role(s): Voys PACE facilitator

ℹ️
The outlook process is our way of setting strategy. There are three cycles in the outlook. - A three-month episode - A yearly outlook - A long-term outlook, which happens every three years.

Every episode

At the end of every quarter, which also marks the start of the next, we have a Planning, Alignment & Cohesion Event (Voys PACE) sometimes called Strategy Week.

During this week we look back at the previous quarter on day one, and look ahead to the next quarter on day two. It’s not really a week, but we use the Monday to set things up, Tuesday is Day 1, the Wednesday we use for reflection, Thursday is Day 2, and Friday we look back at a job well done.

An episode is a period of three months in which you complete Projects or Epics that contribute to your circle’s goals and purpose. During the PACE each circle presents their learnings to the rest of the organization.

Projects

Every completed project includes an evaluation. A project evaluation is included in every episode. Recap Here: Project EvaluationsProject Evaluations

Epics

Epics are made of tickets that are grouped in some meaningful way (e.g. covering a related topic). Once all the contributing work has been completed, the Epic is done. Evaluation happens at ticket level, not at Epic level.

Every year

Each circle looks back at their achievements and contributions to the three year strategy and looks forward at what they want to do this year.

Every three years

We gather input from the entire organization to see where we want to be three years from now. A lot of this input is inherited.

Background

Sometimes a strategy is not enough. Sometimes we want to create a vision for a certain subject. This can be done in a πŸ“ΊVision Conversations
