Our core values are the How of our company; it's the DNA of how we work together.
A tool to help you make decisions
Self-organization is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you get the freedom to make decisions. On the other hand, you are accountable for making decisions in your roles. Making decisions can be hard, and our core values will help. When making a decision, ask these five questions:
- Is it Evolving?
- Is it Supportive?
- Is it Open?
- Is it Equitable?
And finally, does it add to our purpose?
Giving people an equal voice
Our core values
Open; We are open and transparent in what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. We develop open technology with an open mindset and freely share our knowledge.
Supportive; We care about the organization we are, the work we do, and the people we do it with. We are friendly, considerate, helpful, and cooperative.
Equal; We don't look at your job description, we don't look at your title. We look at who you are and what you do. That's how we come together, that's how we work together. We treat everyone as equals because we are all different and yet equal.
Evolving; Change is a verb we embrace, both in how we work and in the technology we develop. We ask the why question and challenge the status quo. We push ourselves to be 1% better every day. This enables us to grow.
If you can say yes to all of these, there is no guarantee that it will be the right decision, but you can be sure you didn't make a wrong decision. If you need more help with making decisions, you can read 101: How to make decisions.
